Ways to Give:

Establish an Endowment

  • Provide long-term support for medical equipment
  • All gifts permanently invested
  • Annual income earned supports new hospital equipment
  • Honour the memory of a loved one

On Tuesday, February 25, the Owen Sound Foundation Board, pictured above, presented a $515,000 cheque to hospital President & CEO Gary Sims, representing the proceeds of the Foundation’s Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund for 2019.

Caring for Tomorrow

The Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation established the Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund in 1996 to support the purchase of new medical equipment at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound Hospital. To date the Endowment has provided more than $5.5 million for new medical equipment and clinical staff training.

It’s like a savings account for new equipment. Donations go in and they stay in.  Only the income earned is used to support the purchase of high priority medical equipment. When urgent equipment needs arise, or when new medical procedures are found, the Fund will be there to help.

An Endowment may be established in your own name or to honour a loved one. Part of your legacy, a named endowment is a deeply personal statement about who you are or the impact a loved one has had on your life, as well as your belief in exceptional rural healthcare at the centre of a vital community.

Invest in a healthy future for your family, friends and neighbours in Grey Bruce.  Contribute to endowment with a one-time gift of cash or securities.  You can also plan a future gift using your Will, RRSP or RRIF plan, life insurance or other assets.

Special Purpose Endowments

A number of special purpose funds have been created within the Caring for Tomorrow Endowment. These enable you to direct your gift to support a hospital service of special interest to you:

Ambulatory Care
Cancer Services
Child Care
Critical Care

Diagnostic Services
Emergency Care
Heart Care
Laboratory

Rehabilitation
Staff Training
Surgery
Vision Care

Named Endowments

The Foundation welcomes the establishment of named endowments, as well as named endowments for special purposes.  Recently established funds include the Henry and Mary Pressey Endowment, the Coulter Family Fund and the Brian Rudrick Fund.  A minimum donation of $50,000 over 5 years is required to establish a named endowment.  A named, special purpose fund may be established with a gift of $100,000 over 5 years.

Recognition

Endowment donors are recognized on the Caring for Tomorrow display located in the centre corridor of the hospital.
