Don’t sleep on your chance to help every patient!
- The hospital needs nine new beds to ensure high quality care for patients.
- They will cost about $118,000 to replace with the latest models.
- Each bed is built with the patient in mind making your hospital stay more comfortable and your care teams jobs easier.
- Gary spent six days in a hospital bed and tells everyone “we have world-class healthcare right her in our backyard.”
A bed may not be the first thing you think of when you imagine vital hospital equipment, but beds are essential for patients and care providers alike.
Whether they’re admitted for surgery, having a baby in our labour and delivery ward, or being checked out by a specialist in a clinic, almost every Brightshores patient will use a bed.
The thing is, they don’t last forever. Patient safety always comes first. That means beds that fall out of repair have to be replaced. And at Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital the time has come to update our fleet of beds.
Just a few months ago, Gary rushed to the Emergency Room becuase he was passing blood. He was admitted to the hospital, and not long after, he crashed suddenly.
Thankfully, Gary was in a well-functioning bed that made it easy for healthcare providers to be right by his side, connecting him to a vital signs monitor, examining him, and bringing him back to a stable state.
It was a frightening experience. But with our dedicated team of nurses and doctors, along with the high-tech equipment they need to do their jobs (including a bed built with patient needs in mind), Gary was able to make a full recovery after six days in hospital.
“I tell everyone we have world-class healthcare right here in our backyard,” says Gary.
He’s right. And as someone who lives in the community too, I think it’s amazing that our world-class care for neighbours is supported by neighbours like you!
You may already know that government funding doesn’t cover equipment including these beds. But our teams can’t perform the often lifesaving work they do without them. That’s why your continued support is so important.
With gratitude,
Beth Morris
